Testing Cookies
What are "cookies?"
Cookies are small, plain text data records temporarily stored on your hard drive. Cookies cannot gather information on their own (i.e., they are NOT viruses, spyware, or programs). Cookies cannot collect personal information from your computer.
Why does GoldenRuleMusic.com need to use cookies?
On GoldenRuleMusic.com, the *only* information that we store in the cookie is a unique cart number. This cart number allows the web site to look up what you have placed in your cart to purchase. The cookie does NOT store, use, or transmit any personal identification information, such as name, address, credit card information, etc. When you quit your browser, the cookie is automatically deleted.
How can I enable cookies?
If you performed the test above and received the message, "Cookies do not appear to be enabled on your browser...," your cookies are not enabled. To enable cookies, go under your browser's "Help" menu and look up "enable cookies" or "cookie settings." Below are some general directions to enable cookies for the following browsers:
Internet Explorer 7.x and 6.x for PC
- Select Tools
- Select Internet Options
- Select the Privacy tab
- Move slider to "medium" or "medium high." The High setting will not allow you to use our shopping cart for online purchases.

Internet Explorer IE 5.x for PC
- Go to Tools on the menu bar
- Pick Internet Options
- Click the Security tab
- Click Internet, then Custom Level
- Scroll down to Cookies and choose "Enable"
- Click Edit on the Toolbar
- Select Preferences
- Under the Receiving Files option, select Cookies
- Under "When receiving cookies:" select the desired level of cookie acceptance
- Click OK to finish
- Click Tools
- Click Options
- Click the Privacy icon
- Click Cookies tab
- Check "Allow sites to set Cookies"
- Click OK

- Under "Firefox" (in the Toolbar), click Preferences
- Click Privacy
- Under Cookies, check the box "Accept cookies from sites" and select the desired length of time to keep the cookie.

- From the Safari menu, click Preferences.
- Click Security
- Under Accept Cookies, choose either "Always" or "Only from sites you navigate to"
- Close the dialog box.
- Restart Safari

- Click Edit on the Toolbar
- Click Preferences
- Click the Privacy and Security category; expand the list to show the subcategories.
- Click Cookies
- Three options are displayed. Click the appropriate choice:
- Disable cookies
- Enable cookies for the originating web site only
- Enable all cookies
- If you want to be notified when a web site tries to set a cookie, select "Warn me before accepting a cookie."
- Under the Netscape toolbar, click on Preferences
- Click the Privacy and Security category; expand the list to show the subcategories.
- Click Cookies
- Click the appropriate choice for your cookies acceptance and lifetime policies.
- If you want to be notified when a web site tries to set a cookie, select "Ask for each cookie."

- Under the Navigator menu, click on Preferences.
- Click the Privacy tab.
- Click "Accept All Cookies".
- Other changes on this page are optional. For more information on what each option does, click the ? in the lower left of the Privacy menu.
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
- Select Internet [Web] Options
- Select Use your Internet Explorer Settings to set advanced browser options.
- Select the Privacy tab
- Select Advanced
- Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
- Click OK to exit.
- From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
- Select Preferences
- Select Internet Properties (WWW)
- Select the Privacy tab
- Select Advanced
- Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
- Click OK to exit.
