Fanga Alafia

From Plank Road Publishing

arr. Paul Jennings

"Fanga Alafia" is a song from West Africa meaning "greetings and blessings" in the Yoruba language. For this version, we give you lots of options for your young singers and players. The vocals are 2-part, though you can use just part 1 in unison. Then, we have recorders - a soprano part that requires D, E, G, A, C; and an alto recorder part, definitely optional, that is fit for any beginning alto player. Boomwhackers® join the mix, and their part can also be played on Orff instruments, hopefully just the wooden ones. We also provide parts for rhythm sticks, a small shaker, hand drum, and frame drum. And, if you have djembes, congas, or other similar drums, you can add them, too. (from Music K-8, Vol. 27, No. 3)
